Today, airberlin, Germany’s second largest Airline and Czech Airlines, the flag carrier of Czech Republic launched a new codeshare agreement.

Both carriers will thus be able to add new routes and destinations to their schedules. airberlin guests will benefit from a better connectivity between Germany and the Czech Republic or Slovakia, while Czech Airlines clients will enjoy direct flights between Prague and Berlin as well as daily connections to Keflavik in Iceland.

Airberlin will place its AB code on five routes operated by Czech Airlines – specifically between Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Prague as well as from Prague to Ostrava and Košice. airberlin will thus be able to offer its clients up to two nonstop daily connections from Düsseldorf and Frankfurt to Prague and a daily connection between Hamburg and Prague.

Czech Airlines will add to its schedule a daily connection between Prague and Berlin operated by airberlin. The carrier will also have its OK code on all flights to Keflavik in Iceland, operated by airberlin from Berlin, Düsseldorf and Hamburg. Czech tourists will thus be able to enjoy a smooth connection to Keflavik during the main summer season.

“We are pleased to welcome Czech Airlines as our 22nd codeshare partner. The partnership enables us to expand our European network. It will allow airberlin to offer more than 85 weekly direct flights between Germany and Prague and new connections to the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Especially the new codeshare flights to and from Dusseldorf are strengthening our hub at the river Rhine providing many attractive connecting flights within Europe and on long-haul routes to the US and the Caribbean,” says Stefan Pichler, Chief Executive Officer airberlin.

“Our co-operation with the airberlin company will provide German customers primarily with improved connectivity between Germany and the Czech Republic and offer them a wider selection of travel destinations in Central and Eastern Europe. It will also help both carriers increase sales and strengthen their business position in both Czech and German markets,” says Jozef Sinčák, Chairman of the Czech Airlines Board of Directors.

Tickets are bookable through www.airberlin.com or www.czechairlines.com, travel agencies and via the service centres of both airlines.
